Al-Mamlakah al-Maghribiyyah or “Kingdom of the West,” the official names for Morocco in Arabic and English, is located in the northern part of Africa. This past weekend, I was fortunate enough to set foot on the continent of Africa for the first time. WOAH. I know. I still cannot believe it.
Morocco, a country filled with tracts of desert and rugged mountains, is as beautiful as you would expect it to be. The three cities that I visited were Assilah, Tangier and Chefchaouen (the blue city). To get to Tangier, we took a bus from Almeria to Tarifa, Spain – this took about 5 hours, including one stop at a rest area for 15-20 minutes. Then, we took a ferry – which took about 40 minutes – to arrive in Tangier. From the moment you get off of the ferry in Tangier, you see a ginormous castle and a city filled with culture.
